Corning Preserve

Six Mile Waterworks Park

Albany, NY

Located in the eastern portion of the Albany Pine Bush Preserve, Six Mile Waterworks Park is a 57-acre park with a playground, lake, trails, picnic tables and BBQs. It is a lovely location for kayaking with tree lined shores, turtles and great blue heron spotting. Lauch your kayak right from the shore and explore Rensselaer Lake. The lake is stocked annually with approximately 2,000 rainbow trout making it a prime fishing location as well.

Henry Hudson Park

Bethlehem, NY

This very scenic park is located along the banks of the Hudson River in Bethlehem. It features a boat launch for motorized craft as well as a separate one for hand-powered craft, picnic areas with grills, softball field, playground, volleyball court, horseshoes, gazebo, pavilion, and accessible fishing area.  The kayak launch is at the south end of the park and provides access to Vloman Kill, a tributary that flows into the Hudson River.

East Berne, NY

Thompson’s Lake State Park is a 308-acre state park located near East Berne in Albany County, New York. It’s tucked within the beautiful grounds of John Boyd Thacher Park and offers tranquil woods as well as streams and lakes for picturesque kayaking. The park is home to many mammal and salamander species, a campground and stunning mountain views.

Lawson Lake County Park

New Scotland, NY

This natural resource and hidden gem in southern Albany County is open your round for birdwatching, fishing, hiking, picnicking, kayaking and canoeing. It’s conveniently located on the border of Coeymans and New Scotland, about 20 minutes from Albany. It’s a 420-acre park with a beautiful lake, wetlands, forested upland, open fields, waterfalls and streams. The lake has two launch points, lots of fish, birds and other wildlife.
