Upper Delaware Scenic & Recreational River

Beach Lake, PA

Forming the eastern border of both Pennsylvania and the Poconos region, the Delaware River is a top kayaking destination. The Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River is managed by the National Park Service. This part of the river offers everything from Class I and II rapids and riffles to quiet pools and eddies. It is fun for all skill levels with beautiful scenery, historic sites and lots of wildlife to take in.

Middle Delaware River & Delaware Water Gap

The Delaware Gap National Recreation Area is a 69,000-acre recreation area on the border of New Jersey and Pennsylvania. It offers access to some of the Northeast’s most unspoiled waterways, including the Delaware Water Gap. This is one of the most famous sights in the Pocono Mountains. It is a mile-wide chasm that formed between Mount Minsi and Mount Tammany, and you can kayak or canoe through it. You’ll find lots of scenic routes, calm pools, mild rapids, forested mountains, grassy beaches and more.

Lake Wallenpaupack

Hawley, PA

Lake Wallenpaupack is one of Pennsylvania’s largest reservoirs. This stunning lake stretches for 13 miles and spans 5,700 acres with 52 miles of uninterrupted shoreline. There’s plenty of space for kayakers, canoers and paddleboarders to spread out as well as four islands to explore.

Lehigh Gorge State Park

The Lehigh River is a 109-mile-long tributary of the Delaware River in eastern Pennsylvania and is a popular spot for whitewater kayaking. The river offers several sections of rapids with a mix of Class II & III. This part of the river is particularly beautiful with it thick vegetation, steep canyon walls, rocky outcroppings and views of the Pocono Mountains.

Promised Land State Park

Greentown, PA

Promised Land State Park is located on the Pocono Plateau, 1,800 feet above sea level. It consists of about 3,000 acres of scenic woodland and is surrounded by 12,464 acres of the Delaware State Forest. The park has two lakes and several small streams that add to its beauty. Promised Land Lake is 422 acres, offering nearly 9 miles of shoreline to explore. Whereas Lower Lake is 173 acres with nearly 4 miles of shoreline.
